Entomology Research Section
The Center for Microbial Research was established in 1954 as the Department of Agricultural Research and the Department of Chemistry. Following the expansion into the Department of Agricultural Research, the following research activities are being carried out by the Department of Pest Management.
Ongoing research
1. Finding pests resistant to pests
The main pests of each crop are: White back Onion-resistant and anti-bacterial rice varieties; Pulses and lentils are resistant to pest infestation. Insect-resistant cotton; Peanut-resistant peanuts are being tested.
2. Testing for Pest Control
(A) Testing the effects of plant-derived natural pesticides (Panglong Pesticides) on pesticides.
(B) Testing of storage pests (legumes).
