Food Legumes Research Section
1914 Sagaing Division Sagaing District It was started at Padu Agricultural Garden and only one type of lentil crop was started as a competitive breeding research. In 1924, peas and lentils were harvested. White beans Three varieties of avocado were collected locally and propagated.
The Pulses Division was established at the Department of Agricultural Research, and in 1976 the research increased to 18 pulses in Yezin and other areas. Stand up straight. It’s India. Beans Butter I miss you. Green peas Soybeans စွန် တာ နီ၊ စွန် တာ ပြာ၊ Beans And beans. Only imported varieties were selected and good yields were given priority.
Since 1990, the six main legumes are green peas, Stand up straight. Beans It’s India. I miss you. Only soybeans have been researched and selected for cross-breeding.

Selection Of Imported Varieties
Imported from 1975 to 2004. Importing countries are IARI, India; AVRDC, Taiwan; IRRI, Philippines; Bogor, Indonesia AVRDC, Thailand. Up to 10-20 varieties are imported annually and selected for trial cultivation in various regions.
Hybrids Selection
Launched from 1999-2000, it has been cross-pollinated five times a year, and 350 lines from the first generation to the sixth generation are being tested and selected.
Breeding
Launched from 2004-2005. Gamma radiation was used to obtain high quality green peas that are resistant to yellow fungus and have no foreign color in the bean sprouts. About 50 lines are being selected from the first generation to the fourth generation.
Step-By-Step Competition Test
From 50% to 150 new varieties are selected and cultivated annually in each region, from the quantitative study to the selection of different breeding methods.
Research Results
Five new varieties of Yezin green peas were published. To date, the most widely cultivated varieties are Yezin-1 (Peti Shwe War); Yezin-11 and Yezin-14, covering up to 80% of the total cultivated area.

Selection Of Imported Varieties
In 1975, 23 species from IARI, India; In 1983, AVRDC, Thailand; In 1987, 19 species from IRRI, Philippines; A total of (45) varieties were imported and selected for trial cultivation in each region. After 1987, no varieties could be imported.
Hybrids Selection
It was started from 1993-94. Worked at Yezin and Letpadan farms. Each year, 897 lines from the first generation to the fifth generation are selected and cultivated in 5 regions.
Breeding
Started from 2000-2001. The purpose is to obtain gamma rays that can be grown in any season. At present, three varieties are being selected for gamma radiation with the aim of obtaining high yielding varieties.
Final Test
Gene mutations selected in a variety of ways are cultivated in 20 to 45 varieties annually, from preliminary studies to regional competition.
Research Results
4 good yields have been published. Widely cultivated varieties are Yezin-2; Yezin-3 and Pearl Tun variety, covering up to 75% of the total cultivated area.

Selection Of Imported Varieties
Since 1976, 55 varieties have been imported from India. India from 1980 to 1996 386 varieties were imported from Myanmar and selected to suit the region. There was no area spread as the current yield could not be exceeded.
Hybrids Selection
Inbreeding was carried out at Myingyan Farm and Nyaung Oo Farm from 1995-96. Each year, more than 250 lines are selected from the first generation to the sixth generation, copying 6 sets each year.
Concentrated Research
In 2005, ICRISAT, India introduced three series of male and female sterilization lines (A) and breeding line (B) to produce high-yielding fresh legumes. In the year 2007, Four sets of breeding line and male line (R) were imported. Now it is time to look for the white lines on the existing legumes. Yield studies are underway to produce experimental varieties.
Final Test
Thirty to 50 varieties are selected and cultivated annually in various regions, from preliminary study to regional competition.
Research Results
To date, three varieties of watermelon have been produced, but only one Monywa gold coin is being distributed to farmers.

Selection Of Imported Varieties
Since 1975, we have been importing chickpeas from ICRISAT, India. About 40 varieties are imported annually and are being selected for trial cultivation in the major lentil growing areas.
Hybrids Selection
Inbreeding has been carried out on the farm since 1991. Work is continuing on Pan Gone and Tat Kone Farms. Each year, more than 1,000 varieties from the first generation to the sixth generation are being tested and selected by breeding about 9 sets.
Final Test
Each year, 100-180 new varieties are tested and cultivated in different regions, from quantitative studies to genetically selected strains.
Research Results
Nine good products have been published. Widely cultivated varieties are Yezin-2; Yezin-3, Yezin-6 and Yezin-8, covering up to 90% of the total cultivated area.

Selection Of Imported Varieties
Imported since 1975. Imported countries are the United States, Taiwan International Tropical Crops Research, Nigeria; International Rice Research Institute and imported 234 varieties until 1989. In 2002, under the auspices of the World Agriculture and Food Organization (FAO), nine varieties of black eyed peas were imported from Nigeria International Tropical Crop Research. Since 2002, no varieties have been imported.
Final Test
Selected potential potential cultivars are being tested and cultivated annually (15-35) annually from preliminary study stage to regional yield competition.
Research Results
To date, four good yields have been produced. Yezin-3 soybeans cover 50% of the total area.
